Judging by the number of sellers I personally know who have had their accounts compromised, eBay is a prime target for password attacks.

Now, like you, I hate to create a complex password I can't remember. So here's a little background on what it takes to hack an eBay password and how you can create highly un-hackable password you can remember.

Very useful advice on password creation and interesting to know how easy it is to hack someone's password, seems like all the phishing is realy phutile when there are programmes available to do the job Shocked

Never having entered my password incorrectly on eBay, I don't know the validity of this, but I have heard that if you attempt to enter the wrong password a certain number of times, eBay automatically changes it on the account owners behalf. Hopefully that will deter some of the scammers who attempt to enter house names, dob combinations etc.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of eBay sellers who have fairly insecure passwords.
Nor me if it's true, tbh, no one has ever told me their password so I don't know. if they opt for the family pet's name, or their kids name and dob, then surely they realise they are asking for trouble. Rolling Eyes

I like the idea of generating your password from a phrase. Many of mine are random but I find it a pain to have too many passwords and therefore leave myself permanently 'logged in' on quite a few sites. In the event of having to sign in again I always end up having to change the passwords to those.

I know there's a programme to have a 'password safe' where you store all your passwords and therefore only need to remember the one for the safe itself ... there's the weakness with it, crack that one and you have the lot Sad

I do find the info in that article on how long it would take to crack passwords really interesting.
