On this day in 1963 the Rolling Stones played their first concert in the States. They were the opening act for Bo Diddley & Everly Bros. |

Oscar De La Hoya was born on this day in 1973.
Oscar became our 'Golden Boy' when he won the gold medal in the Barcelona Olympics, I think it was the only gold our boxers won that year.
He went on to win 10 world titles in six different weights. Although he became mega wealthy and famous he still remains very loyal to his Mexican roots here in Los Angeles and is one of the most loved and respected sports figures.
Boxing memorabilia is very collectible. Programs, posters, signed boxing gloves and old Ring magazines are some of the items collectors look for.
See a beautiful- and rare- collectible Oscar De La Hoya card here:

James Dean was born on this day in 1931. So he would be 79 right now if he had not taken his 550 Spyder out for a drive that day. Ironically, he was given a speeding ticket by a Kern County cop shortly before the crash.
James Dean is the only actor to be nominated for two Oscars posthumously.
Anyone a fan of the Seinfeld show? Remember the actress who played Jerry's mom? She was James Dean's girlfriend. However, Dean was thought to be homosexual.....not that there is anything wrong with that. |

Just think, if that cop hadn’t stopped James Dean, would he still be alive?
That cop changed the outcome of Dean’s life when he stopped him! |
